About Phillips Hobbies

Our story began in 2016 when a bright-eyed and bushy-tailed George Phillips (not literally!) turned his passion for collecting diecast models and his dream of running a model shop into a business.

Things started off a bit slow, and George – just a teenager at the time – wondered if Phillips Hobbies would ever take off. But he didn’t give up. He kept learning, kept pushing, and slowly but surely built a reputation for outstanding service.

Then, in 2021, something incredible happened. Theo Paphitis, star of Dragons' Den, spotted Phillips Hobbies and awarded George his Small Business Sunday Award – a moment he’ll never forget!

In 2022, Phillips Hobbies was recognised as one of the UK’s most impressive small businesses by the Small Business Sunday campaign – an achievement beyond George’s wildest dreams.

Fast forward to 2024, and George found himself in the final three for eBay's Above and Beyond Award. While he didn’t quite clinch the win, it was yet another incredible milestone on the journey.

All these exciting moments led to the big one: in September 2024, George opened the doors to the first Phillips Hobbies physical store. After years of hard work and dedication, that dream finally became a reality – and now, we get to share it with you in person!
