With the Executive version you can build the Avro Lancaster B III in a special Dambuster version. It was designed to carry out one of the most famous operations of World War II - Operation Chastise. The machine has unique markings of the 617th Bomber Squadron. The model itself has rotating propellers, folding landing gear and movable ailerons. The cockpit has a reproduced interior, in which crew figures can be placed. Under the plane you can attach the famous "Bouncing Bomb" designed to destroy large-sized targets, such as water dams and submarine shelters. It was used on 17 May 1943 to destroy the German dams at Möhne and Eder by the 617th Bomber Squadron "Dam busters" (Operation Chastise). The set includes historical markings, a block display base with the name of the aircraft and three figures representing the aircraft's crew.
The Avro Lancaster was a heavy four-engine British bomber aircraft from World War II, built by A.V.Roe (Avro) and used from 1942 onward. Alongside the Handley Page Halifax, the Lancaster was the basic heavy bomber of the British Royal Air Force during World War II. The Lancaster is considered the most successful British heavy bomber. A total of 7,377 Avro Lancaster aircraft were produced.
In 1943, several Avro Lancaster aircraft were modified to carry out Operation Chastise. The aim of the operation was to destroy the dams in the Ruhr area in Germany in hopes of disrupting the supply of water and energy to German industry. Operation Chastise was innovative both technologically and tactically. It required precise low-altitude flying and precise bomb drops.
